What? Simply: acupuncture done in a group setting.
How? Reclining chairs in a semi circle allow acupuncturists to needle people while recipients recline and enjoy their treatments. Needles are placed knees down, elbows down and sometimes in the ears and scalp- the areas that have the most potent and effective acupuncture points.
Why? It is more accessible this way- both financially and logistically. The acupuncturist is able to give multiple treatments in a hour so can charge less. It is easier to treat multiple people in the same room and there is no need to disrobe which can feel safer and be less invasive.
It has added healing effects to heal in a room with others. It is a balm to the chronic isolation and toxic individualism many of us experience.
